Since 2013 – monthly free Ayurveda Camps
The vision of Punarnava Ayurveda is to create a sustainable community based on the principles of Ayurveda and Natural farming. Towards achieving this vision, Punarnava Ayurveda Trust and Vaidyagrama Community Trust has been conducting monthly free Ayurveda Camps since April 2013.
On the first saturday of every month, in one of the villages in Thirumalayampalayam Panchayat, a camp site is selected. Permissions from Health department is taken, and notice of camp is given to the villagers. On the camp day, the trust team sets up a make shift hall in the village chosen for the camp. From 10 Am till 1 Pm, Vaidyagrama medical team including 2 or 3 doctors headed by Dr Harikrishnan ( Medical Director of Vaidyagrama and Trustee of Punarnava Ayurveda Trust) consults patients and dispenses free medicines.
Old and abandoned elders
Majority of the villagers are old and are abandoned by their families who have left the villages looking for greener pastures. The trust arranges for transport for the villagers residing in far away villages to come to the medical camp and consult with the Doctor. This has helped in reaching Ayurveda care to more people in the years from 2013 till 2020. Earlier the villagers who were reluctant to take Ayurveda medicines, now readily come to the camp to get medicines. The overall health of the elderly in the villages have improved since 2013.
The common diseases for which the patients seek Ayurveda care include Arthritis, Digestion problems, Blood pressure, Gynecological problems, body pain, cold and fever etc.
On the Medical camp day a community meal is arranged for the villagers so that, those who come to the camp can have their lunch and get dropped back to their villages.
Free Outpatient Ayurveda clinic
From November 2019, a free Outpatient Ayurveda clinic is being operated by the trust at Rottigoundanur village from 5 pm to 7 pm every day for the benefit of the villagers. Our doctors and staff of vaidyagrama, do voluntary service at the camp, for the benefit of the community.
